Project: WHAT ARE YOU THINKING

I recorded the EEG time-series data from several participants using a 16-channel brain-computer interface while they listened to the same music. The data was visualized into six rectangles using a JavaScript script I wrote, with their shapes changing according to the activity intensity in different brain regions. This project abstractly visualized human cognitive activity and demonstrated the differences in brain activity among different individuals in the same scenario.

Even when we’re all listening to the same piece of music, people’s brain activity is completely different. We can use a dozen adjectives to describe a piece of music: calm, jumpy, graceful, smooth, etc. But words cannot express the real “thoughts” in our brains after all.

However, by visualizing human brain activity through simple graphics, what is shown in the video is a portrait of the actual “thoughts” of the participants. Just as portraits can vividly describe a person’s posture and expression, these “portraits” of the human brain dynamically and intuitively demonstrate the unique thinking characteristics of each person.
